This cottage sits atop a rockface overlooking Vernon Lake. Prior to our work there, a small goatpath led up the hillside to the cottage.
We designed and built an aesthetic and practical staircase, totalling 70 steps, up to the cottage. Built out of local Muskokan wood, the stairs lead to a decked plateau to barbecue, read or what your heart desires. A final staircase bridges the plateau to wraparound deck attached to the cottage.
The owners also wanted a space where they could listen to and enjoy Muskoka while in the comfort of their home. Using hemlock timbers to frame the screened in Muskoka Room, we built it with a vaulted ceiling to exude spaciousness and tranquility.
